Liverpool duo Salah and Firmino in battle for top spot in player form rankings
Now just a few days out from Christmas, it's time to see who is hitting the festive period in the best form.
This is arguably our strongest power rankings of the 2020/21 campaign so far, with big hitters filling nearly every spot inside the top-10.
Before we delve into the standings, it's time to remind you of how it all works. As always, our power rankings are based on a six-game period, weighted chronologically with the most recent outing carrying greater significance and so on.
Each player must have played in two of the last three and six of the last eight available Premier League matches for their side. Moreover, only league ratings are considered.
10) James Maddison (Leicester) - 7.49 form ranking
James Maddison is clinging on to his place in the top-10 after a fall of two spots. Had the Leicester creator not had a goal harshly ruled out against Tottenham at the weekend then there is a good chance he would have actually climbed the standings. However, he is now without a goal or an assist in his last two matches having played a direct hand in three in the two matches before that.
9) Andrew Robertson (Liverpool) - 7.53 form rankings
Andrew Robertson makes his first appearance in the top-10 this season off the back of Liverpool's stunning 7-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday. The Scotland international registered his fifth assist of the league campaign in the rout and has now set up a goal in each of Liverpool's last two matches.
8) Mason Mount (Chelsea) - 7.54 form ranking
Chelsea's Mason Mount has dipped in and out of the top-10 all season and returns this week after starring in their 3-0 win over West Ham on Monday. It was from Mount's corner that Chelsea opened the scoring, with Thiago Silva converting. The 21-year-old now has two assists in his last four Premier League appearances.
7) Nick Pope (Burnley) - 7.61 form ranking
Nick Pope was eventually beaten from the penalty spot in Burnley's 2-1 win over Wolves on Monday night, costing him six places in the top-10 from last week. Nevertheless, Pope has four WhoScored Man of the Match awards in Burnley's last six matches, averaging 4.5 saves per game in that time.
6) Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United) - 7.66 form rating
Just as Bruno Fernandes appeared to be heading towards the top-10 exit door, the Manchester United star responded with another first class display to move back towards No.1 spot. Fernandes climbs three places from last week after playing a direct hand in three of United's six goals against Leeds on Sunday. Across his last six league appearances, Fernandes has scored or assisted in six goals (four goals, two assists).
5) Marcus Rashford (Manchester United) - 7.64 form rating
Marcus Rashford drops one spot in our form rankings after failing to get in on the act against Leeds at the weekend. Rashford's form rating has actually improved 0.05 from last week but he drops one place due to others enjoying a bigger increase. Rashford has four goals and assists in his last six league appearances.
4) Jack Grealish (Aston Villa) - 7.81 form rating
Like Rashford, Grealish has dropped one place in the form guide despite a rating increase from last week (+0.14). Grealish registered an assist in Villa's 3-0 win away to West Brom on Sunday night and now has three goal involvements in his last six appearances. In that time, the Villa captain averages 4.3 key passes, 3.2 successful dribbles and 3.3 attempts on goal. Moreover, Grealish has been fouled 5.2 times per game in that time.
3) Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) - 7.82 form rating
Last week's No1, Kevin De Bruyne, can only manage a third place finish this time around. De Bruyne was once again the difference maker for Manchester City, supplying the assist, his seventh of the seven, in a 1-0 win away to Southampton at the weekend. Across his last six appearances, De Bruyne has four assists and one goal, with 3.3 key passes pg and 3.8 shots pg.
2) Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) - 7.84 form rating
Mohamed Salah is in red hot form heading into Christmas with goals in each of his last four Premier League appearances and in five of his last six. Despite coming on for the last 33 minutes against Crystal Palace at the weekend, Salah still scored twice and provided one assist. Across his last six Premier League appearances, Salah has played a direct hand in nine goals.
1) Roberto Firmino (Liverpool) - 7.91 form rating
Heavily criticised earlier in the season, Roberto Firmino is now back to his best. The Brazilian scored the match winner against Tottenham last week and followed that up with two goals and an assist against Crystal Palace at the weekend. He claimed the WhoScored Man of the Match award in both games. Firmino ranked 10th in the standings last week, but heads into Christmas as the most in-form player in the Premier League.
