Bayern striker retains top spot in player form rankings
Despite Bayern's surprise home loss at the hands of Hoffenheim, a defeat that saw them knocked off top spot in the Bundesliga, Robert Lewandowski retained his spot at the top of the player form rankings aross Europe's top five leagues, though his WhoScored rating dropped from 8.35 to 8.13 despite bagging his 11th Bundesliga goal of the campaign in the 2-1 reverse.
He isn't the only Bundesliga player to feature in the top three of the form rankings across Europe's top five leagues with Gladbach striker Alassane Plea's weighted WhoScored rating rising to 7.95 as he scored one and assisted two in a 5-1 win over Augsburg to send the Foals top of Germany's top tier as we come into the international break.
Monaco hitman Islam Slimani nips in ahead of Plea in the player form rankings with a 7.97 despite a failure to net in Monaco's 3-1 loss at Montpellier, a defeat that leaves the French side just one point above the relegation zone. Slimani, to his credit, provided the assist for Wissam Ben Yedder's consolation goal with the Algerian's weighted rating second only to Lewandowski in these standings.
Slimani is one of seven new qualifiers in the top 20, with fellow Ligue 1 star Idrissa Gueye (7.80) making the cut having impressed following his move to PSG. Atalanta duo Duvan Zapata (7.90) and Alejandro Gomez (7.87) feature in fifth and sixth, respectively, with Cristiano Ronaldo (7.82) following suit.
Kevin De Bruyne (7.95) is the top performing Premier League player according to WhoScored's unique rating system. The Belgian is one of two players to ply their trade in England's top tier to feature in the top 10 as Tammy Abraham (7.76) pips Sergio Aguero (7.74) to 10th.
There are only three in the top 20 whose rating dropped, as did their place in the standings. They are Santi Cazorla (7.70, down from 7.78), Amine Harit (7.65, down from 7.91) and WIlfred Ndidi (7.64, down from 7.68). Ndidi isn't the only Premier League representative whose place in the top 20 dropped, as so too did John McGinn, Joel Matip and Sebastien Haller.
Qualifying Rules
Only ratings from each player’s last six league matches are considered, weighted chronologically, with the most recent match carrying greater importance and so on. To qualify each player must have featured in two of the last three league matches and started at least six of the last eight available.
