Manchester United join race for Kylian Mbappe

Manchester United have added Kylian Mbappe to their list of transfer targets over the next 12 months, claims ESPN.

Mbappe is expected to see out the last year of his Paris Saint-Germain contract before leaving the French side on a free transfer next summer.

Real Madrid still believe they have an outside chance of landing Mbappe this month but PSG are now hopeful the France international will even sign a new long-term deal.

PSG sporting director Leonardo believes there is now no reason for Mbappe to leave the club following Leo Messi's blockbuster arrival from Barcelona.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to sign an established striker next summer when Edinson Cavani is expected to leave United.

Erling Haaland, Harry Kane and Lautaro Martinez are already on United's shortlist but they are now monitoring Mbappe's future.

The Red Devils are aware Mbappe will likely join Madrid if he does leave PSG in 2022 but are still keen to at least discuss a move to Old Trafford.

Mbappe has remarkably played a direct hand in 120 goals in 109 league appearances since joining PSG from Monaco in the summer of 2017.
