Manchester United defender heading to Juventus

Juventus have finally reached an agreement with Manchester United for Matteo Darmian, claims Gazzetta dello Sport.

Darmian has been heavily linked with a move to Juventus in the last 12 months after failing to make any serious impression at United.

The Italy international has dropped down the pecking order since Louis van Gaal was sacked as United manager in May 2016.

Darmain was rarely used under Jose Mourinho but the Portuguese was reluctant to lose the 29-year-old in case his departure left United short in defence.

With Fulham set to terminate Timothy Fosu-Mensah's loan deal short, Darmian is now poised to return to Italy.

Juventus will loan Darmian for the remainder of the season with an option to buy for £7.1m, but the deal hinges on whether Leonardo Spinazzola joins Bologna.

Since joining United in the summer of 2015, the Red Devils have a better win ratio in the Premier League when Darmian has not started (59.6%) compared to when he has featured from the off (45.8%).
