Liverpool have been put on red alert to the news that Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is looking to leave the Bundesliga side this summer, reports the Daily Mirror.
The Gabon international has told the German outfit that he wants to quit the club, with it rumoured that Saturday’s DFB-Pokal meeting with Eintracht Frankfurt will be his last game for Dortmund.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is keen to bolster the club’s attack this summer and has eyed up a move for the 27-year-old, who scored more goals (31) than any other player in the Bundesliga this season.
The Reds’ return to Champions League action means strengthening is required and Klopp feels Aubameyang is the ideal frontman to fire the team towards the Premier League summit and make headway in Europe’s elite club competition.
Dortmund, though, would not allow Aubameyang to leave easily, with German publication Bild reporting that the frontman has handed in a transfer request in order to force a move away this summer.
Real Madrid, PSG and former side AC Milan have all shown an interest in Aubameyang in the past and would rival Liverpool for the signing of Gabonese star, who would cost upwards of £55m.

Lol, the delusion of the British media continues. These Man United- and Liverpool-loving hacks never give it a rest. He's only leaving Dortmund for Real Madrid or Bayern, everyone knows that.
