Villarreal have identified Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo as a potential replacement for Matteo Musacchio, according to Marca.
Musacchio, 25, is reportedly on the verge of joining AC Milan, which would leave Villarreal significantly short at the back having already sold Eric Bailly to United this summer in a deal worth £30m.
United only signed Rojo after the 2014 World Cup but he has failed to convince and has struggled with injuries since making the £16m move from Sporting Lisbon.
The 26-year-old is thought to be one of the players Jose Mourinho will try to push through the door at United this summer but will they want to recoup as much of the money they paid for the Argentina international two years ago.
Only Daley Blind (6) has made more errors that have lead to a shot on goal in the Premier League for United in the last two seasons than Rojo (4).
