City confirm Bravo arrival

Manchester City have announced they have signed Barcelona goalkeeper Claudio Bravo in a deal worth an initial £15.4m plus £1.7m in add-ons.

Pep Guardiola has been determined to sign a new goalkeeper after losing faith in Joe Hart prior to the start of the season and the City boss has finally got his man.

Bravo, 33, has spent the last two years as Barcelona’s No.1 goalkeeper but has signed a new four-year deal with City running until 2020.

“I’m very proud to be joining Manchester City. I know the club is building something very special and I hope I can be part of many successes in the coming years,” Bravo told City’s official website.

“I have followed City’s progress in recent years and obviously know some of my new team-mates from the Copa America.

“It is not easy to leave a club like Barcelona where I had two fantastic years, but the opportunity to work with Pep Guardiola was too good to refuse.

“Now I will challenge the other great goalkeepers the club has and together I hope we can win many trophies.”
