Team News

Man City
Wigan
  • Roberto Mancini made 8 changes to the side for the game against West Brom in midweek, with all of the usual suspects likely to return, including Yaya Toure, who picked up a knock last weekend.
  • Despite scoring in midweek, Edin Dzeko is likely to miss out, with Sergio Aguero returning to lead the line, with only Milner and Nasri likely to keep their places in the side.
  • Costel Pantillimon has played in City's entire cup run, so he could get the chance to start in goal ahead of Hart if Mancini sticks with his decision to play the Romanian in the competition.
  • Jean Beausejour is a major doubt, which will effect Wigan's game plan massively, while Ronnie Stam is certain to miss out.
  • Alcaraz could be back in contention, however, to allow Boyce to move back into his right wing-back role, with Espinoza likely to line up on the opposite flank if Beausejour is not fit.
  • James McArthur should get the nod over Jordi Gomez in midfield, with Callum McManaman's role in the Latics' progress to the final also set to be rewarded with another start.

Prediction

  • Wigan have failed to score in their last 7 matches against Man City, and they will need to focus and rebuild their confidence after a real body blow of a defeat to Swansea in midweek.
  • Mancini's side have been looking less than potent in front of goal themselves of late, and while this will be a game between two sides trying to play the right way, both will need to improve in front of goal to win here.
  • Martinez's side haven't looked short on confidence but are still making costly errors at the back and if they do that on the biggest stage of all, City shouldn't need too much encouragement to punish them
