Team News

Uruguay
Colombia
  • Ronald Araujo was forced off through injury in the first half of Uruguay's quarter-final against Brazil, and is unlikely to play a part for the remainder of the tournament.
  • Colombia may opt to go with the same starting XI as that which demolished Panama in the quarter-finals, despite Jefferson Lerma returning from suspension.

Prediction

  • Colombia steamrolled Panama 5-0 in their Copa America quarter-final on Saturday evening, and will relish this test against Uruguay.
  • Uruguay, meanwhile, played out a goalless draw with Brazil in their last eight clash, but ultimately advanced after a penalty shootout victory.
  • These two sides last met back in October, in World Cup qualifying, where they played out an entertaining 2-2 draw.
  • A similarly tight contest could be on the cards here, with penalties perhaps deciding this one.

  • Terrible offensive play from both sides: created plenty of chances but missed them all! Unbelievably poor forwards....

  • Uruguay will equalise, but Colombia will win it on penalties. You heard it here first.

  • @Sputnik So close.

  • Okay, so now, with Colombia down to 10 men, Bielsa should introduce Suarez instead of one of his defensive players to give Nunez a bit of confidence by lifting responsibility off of his shoulders. Maybe then Nunez will be able to score, especially because the attention of the Colombian defence would be divided between Suarez and him.

  • With Suarez on board, the game would be already 3-0 for Uruguay! Never have I seen a team play an entire tournament with such an out of form forward like Nunez. And that old clueless monkey just sits on the sideline like a helpless moron!

  • Somebody please explain: Luis Suarez, the forward partner of Messi in Inter Miami and all time leading goal scorer of Uruguay, has been in better form than Messi throughout the season, and yet he didn't play a minute in the current Copa America games, while Messi played in almost every game??? All the while Darwin Nunez is totally out of form in every single game of this Copa America???? Am I missing something, or this clueless Argentine called Marcelo Bielsa is the culprit????? Why isn't he continuing the traditional Uruguay style with 2 forwards (Suarez and Nunez) in an overly defensive Uruguay team????? Why isn't Cavani on the bench exactly for these types of situations when a young forward is just totally out of it???? I cannot believe the coaching mediocracy these days: Southgates, Deschamps, Martinez's, Scaloni's, Bielsas, Koomans on the benches essentially kill and execute world football every single game!

  • Colombia to advance +100 - because losing a bet on draw is you know what!

  • Cooooooolllllllooooommmmbiaaaaaaa

  • Matches between these 2 teams have resulted in a draw all of the last 4 times they have played.Colombia have drawn 8 of their last 19 matches.

  • @FF2021 Colombia would be an idiot to leave things for the penalties, when they have a much better team than Uruguay! But of course, all teams are idiots today, so you might be correct! P.S. Nunez is just as an emberrasment as Liverpool was the past season!
