- Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers named three changes after the Celts were destroyed in Dortmund 7-1 in the Champions League, before they left it late to beat Ross County 2-1 in Dingwall in their last Scottish Premiership match.
- Kasper Schmeichel continued in goal, behind a back four of Alex Valle - who made his first league start for Celtic - Liam Scales, Auston Trusty and Alistair Johnston as Cameron Carter-Vickers still missed out through injury.
- Reo Hatate replaced Paulo Bernardo as Callum McGregor and Arne Engels were chosen once more in midfield. Daizen Maeda and Nicholas Kühn, the matchwinner for the Hoops in the Highlands, supported Adam Idah as opposed to Kyogo Furuhashi.
- Aberdeen manager Jimmy Thelin named an unchanged Dons team after they claimed a 2-1 win at Dens Park against Dundee, before they also left it late to beat Hearts 3-2 at Pittodrie prior to the international break.
