Team News

St. Johnstone
Kilmarnock
  • St Johnstone boss Simo Valakari named two changes to the Saints side that lost 2-1 to Hearts at McDiarmid Park, before a defeat to Motherwell at Fir Park by the same scoreline before the international break.
  • Josh Rae replaced Ross Sinclair in goal behind a back four of Barry Douglas, Kyle Cameron, Jack Sanders and Drey Wright. Matt Smith came into the four-man midfield to accompany Graham Carey, Sven Sprangler and Jason Holt.
  • Benji Kimpioka dropped out of the starting eleven. Adama Sidibeh was joined in attack by Nicky Clark, who has scored two penalties in as many Scottish Premiership matches and three goals in four league games.
  • Kilmarnock boss Derek McInnes named three changes to the Killie team that blew a two goal lead at Dens Park as they lost 3-2 to Dundee, before a 2-0 defeat to Celtic at Rugby Park before the international break.
  • Robby McCrorie continued in goal behind a back four of Lewis Mayo, Joe Wright (who replaced the injured Stuart Findlay), Robbie Deas and Corrie Ndaba. Danny Armstrong is also injured, so Liam Donnelly took his place as Matty Kennedy continued on the left hand-side.
  • Brad Lyons and David Watson remained in the middle of the park. Despite scoring against Dundee, Bruce Anderson made way for Marley Watkins to accompany Kyle Vassell in the Kilmarnock attack.

Prediction

  • Tenth-placed St Johnstone host Kilmarnock in eighth, as these two teams meet at McDiarmid Park in one of four Scottish Premiership fixtures on Saturday afternoon.
  • St Johnstone lost back-to-back Scottish Premiership matches against Motherwell for the first time since November 2019, as a 2-1 defeat in Perth was succeeded by a loss in Motherwell by the same scoreline. No team has conceded more goals in Scotland's top tier than Saints (27) but they kept a clean sheet against Kilmarnock in Ayrshire, one of only two in the league so far this season.
  • Kilmarnock have conceded the second most amount of goals in the Premiership so far this season (25) but they'll be puzzled as to how they didn't score any against reigning champions Celtic at Rugby Park before the international break. Killie had won two of their last three against the Hoops at Rugby Park, but they can take positives from the performance despite the result which proved an annoyance.
  • The two teams who have conceded the most goals in the Scottish Premiership meet here but with neither in the best of fettle, a potential winner is tricky to predict.
