Team News

Rangers
Dundee FC
  • Rangers boss Philippe Clement made two changes after the Gers drew 1-1 with Tottenham Hotspur in their Europa League battle of Britain, before Hampden heartbreak as they lost the Scottish League Cup final on penalties to Celtic.
  • John Souttar limped off against Spurs, so Leon Balogun took his place in the back four for last Sunday's showpiece. He started in front of Jack Butland alongside club captain James Tavernier, Robin Pröpper and Jefte in the Gers' backline.
  • Mohamed Diomande joined Nico Raskin sat in front of the Gers defence. Ridvan Yilmaz, who missed the decisive spot-kick after a 3-3 thriller, was replaced by Ianis Hagi. He accompanied Vaclav Cerny and Nedim Bajrami in support of Hamza Igamane in attack.
  • Dundee manager Tony Docherty made two changes from the Dee team that got back to winning ways with an emphatic 4-1 victory over Motherwell at Dens Park, before they lost 2-0 to Hearts in Edinburgh the weekend before last.
  • Jon McCracken kept his place in goal, behind an unchanged back three of Billy Koumetio, Antonio Portales and Ryan Astley. Josh Mulligan continued at right wing-back with Fin Robertson replacing Scott Tiffoney at left wing-back.
  • Mo Sylla, Lyall Cameron and Jordan McGhee remained in the middle of the park. Oluwaseun Adewumi was joined by Seb Palmer-Houlden, who took Simon Murray's place up front, in the Dee frontline for the trip to Tynecastle.

Prediction

  • Rangers host Dundee at Ibrox in Saturday's Scottish Premiership meeting, with the Gers having played three matches since the Dee were last in action.
  • The Gers will feel aggrieved that they didn't beat either Tottenham Hotspur in continental action, or city rivals Celtic as the first trophy of the Scottish season was won by their bitter rivals at the national stadium last weekend. Rangers are still chasing down second-placed Aberdeen and could overtake them this weekend, if results go their way, but they still have a game in hand on the Dons.
  • Papers are reporting that illness is sweeping the Dundee camp ahead of the Dee's trip to Ibrox which is the last thing they need, after an uninspiring display in Edinburgh against Hearts at Tynecastle in their last outing. The visitors fell into the bottom six as a result, as St Mirren left it late to sneak past St Johnstone at Perth, but it'll be a tricky task to return to winning ways this weekend.
  • Rangers have looked much improved in the month of December compared to the rest of their season so far, so the Gers should get the better of Dundee convincingly on Saturday afternoon.
