Team News

St. Johnstone
Kilmarnock
  • St Johnstone boss Craig Levein named one enforced change to the Saints side that lost the Tayside derby 2-1 to Dundee at McDiarmid Park, before a huge three points were picked up at Easter Road against Hibs by the same scoreline.
  • Club captain Liam Gordon missed the trip to Edinburgh through injury, as Andy Considine joined Ryan McGowan and Luke Robinson in the back three. David Keltjens and Tony Gallacher started at right wing-back and left wing-back respectively.
  • Max Kucheriavyi and Matt Smith continued alongside Dan Phillips, who captained Saints on his 50th appearance, in midfield. Nicky Clark remained up front with Adama Sidibeh, who's scored two goals in as many games, in attack last weekend.
  • Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes named an unchanged Killie team after they held Hearts at Tynecastle in a 1-1 draw, before a sole goal was enough to see off Ross County at Rugby Park last Saturday afternoon in Ayrshire.
  • Will Dennis continued in goal with Joe Wright, Stuart Findlay and Robbie Deas in front of him. They were joined by Lewis Mayo, as Killie shifted to a back four, with midfielder David Watson making way for that to be the case once more.
  • Danny Armstrong and Matty Kennedy provided the width from the right and left flank respectively. Liam Donnelly and Liam Polworth were selected in the middle of the park again. Weekend goalscorer Kyle Vassell and Marley Watkins lead the line.

Prediction

  • Both St Johnstone and Kilmarnock picked up what could prove three pivotal points in the Scottish Premiership last weekend, as the two teams meet at McDiarmid Park on Saturday.
  • St Johnstone picked up a rare victory at Easter Road, just their second in their last six trips to Leith, as they moved four points clear of Ross County who occupy the relegation playoff place at present. The Staggies host Rangers in the Highlands on Sunday so, if the hosts could claim back-to-back league victories here, Saints will hope to continue creating a gap between the two teams.
  • Kilmarnock have now won 10+ matches at Rugby Park in a Scottish Premiership campaign for the first time since 2018/19 when they won 12. Back then, Killie's home form proved pivotal as they sealed a third-place finish. They'll hope to continue picking up points, occupying fourth place, with European football in sight as they aim to finish as high up the league table as they possibly can.
  • St Johnstone have the third worst home record in the division and Kilmarnock have the fourth worst away record in the league so, despite a win apiece for Saints in Perth and Killie in Ayrshire, perhaps a share of the spoils is in order this weekend.
