Team News

St. Johnstone
Dundee FC
  • St Johnstone boss Craig Levein named three changes to the Saints side that were held at home in a 1-1 draw with Livingston in Perth, before they fell to a 3-1 defeat to Celtic at Parkhead before the international break.
  • Dimitar Mitov continued in goal with David Keltjens, Ryan McGowan, Liam Gordon, Andy Considine - who replaced Nicky Clark - and Luke Robinson chosen as the back five.
  • Sven Sprangler, Matt Smith and Daniel Phillips sat in front of the Saints backline. Diallang Jaiyesimi and Benjamin Kimpioka made way for Graham Carey and Adama Sidibeh to be selected in Glasgow in their last league match.
  • Dundee boss Tony Docherty named two changes to the Dee team that conceded a late leveller to Kilmarnock which saw them leave Dens Park with a point in a 2-2 draw, before bouncing back to beat Aberdeen 1-0 in their last league game.
  • Both changes came in the wing-back areas, either side of an unchanged Dee defence consisting of Antonio Portales, Joe Shaughnessy and Aaron Donnelly. Dara Costelloe replaced Josh Mulligan on the right, with Owen Beck being replaced by Owen Dodgson on the left.
  • Mo Sylla and Lyall Cameron had previously taken Malachi Boateng and Finlay Robertston’s places in midfield, joined by Luke McCowan. Scott Tiffoney continued to join Curtis Main up front at Amadou Bakayoko's expense.

Prediction

  • A tasty Tayside derby is in store upon the Scottish Premiership's return, with St Johnstone taking on Dundee at McDiarmid Park in potentially their final league meeting this season.
  • Saints' poor recent record against Celtic continued last time out, as they are now without a win against the Hoops since May 2016 having lost 24 of the 28 meetings since. They did secure a goalless draw at Parkhead earlier on in the season but couldn't repeat that feat and are looking nervously over their shoulder. A win here would go a long way in securing Premiership survival.
  • Dundee were left disappointed that their game against Rangers at Dens Park was postponed prior to the international break. The Dee have slipped to seventh in the Scottish Premiership table, after Hibs cruised to a routine victory over Livingston at Easter Road, but have a game in hand on the Hibees now. A victory in Perth would be huge for cementing an impressive top-six spot.
  • Dundee beat Saints at Dens but the previous league meeting in Perth ended in a 2-2 draw, after the Dee blew a two-goal lead, so a share of the spoils this weekend wouldn't be too surprising.
