Team News

Hearts
Celtic
  • Hearts boss Steven Naismith made three changes after the Jambos' remarkable recent run came to an end as they were hammered 5-0 by Rangers at Ibrox on Saturday afternoon.
  • The Jambos changed to a back four, but with all four defenders having started their gubbing in Govan, Kye Rowles the only defender dropped. Cammy Devlin replaced Beni Baningime to join compatriot Calem Nieuwenhof in midfield.
  • Scott Fraser replaced Jorge Grant further forward, joining the incoming Alan Forrest and Kenneth Vargas in support of their main marksman Lawrence Shankland - who was chosen as the men in maroon's sole striker.
  • Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers named three changes to the Celts side that left it late to beat Motherwell 3-1 at Fir Park on Sunday afternoon, before they demolished Dundee 7-1 at Parkhead in their midweek mauling on Wednesday.
  • Cameron Carter-Vickers replaced the injured Maik Nawrocki to join Alistair Johnston, Liam Scales and Greg Taylor in the Hoops' back four. Tomoki Iwata continued in midfield alongside Matt O'Riley and club captain Callum McGregor.
  • Nicolas Kühn dropped out for Hyun-Jun Yang to start on one flank, with Daizen Maeda on the other. Luis Palma sealed the deal against Motherwell but wasn't rewarded with a start, unlike Adam Idah who bagged a brace and replaced Kyogo Furuhashi.

Prediction

  • Two of the Scottish Premiership's top three go toe-to-toe at Tynecastle, as Hearts host Celtic in Sunday's sole league fixture.
  • Hearts were held at home by Hibs in the Edinburgh derby, looking for an immediate response having been ruined by a ruthless Rangers last weekend. Still sat in third for the time being, the men in maroon will want to bounce back soon. If they start matches in the same manner as they have been recently, this weekend's game could run away from them before they've even got going.
  • Celtic were back to their very best on Wednesday night, as they demolished Dundee and scored six against the Dee in a scintillating first-half performance. Having lost at home to Hearts back in December, they'll hope to repeat one of their best performances of the season as they hammered them at Tynecastle in October. If Rangers beat Motherwell on Saturday, Celtic must match them.
  • Earlier on in the season Celtic were victorious in Edinburgh and Hearts won in Glasgow but, given what went on in both's midweek matches, it could be a long afternoon for the hosts as the visitors come to town.
