Team News

Motherwell
Ross County
  • Stuart Kettlewell named an unchanged Motherwell team after they drew with St Johnstone 1-1 in Perth, before they were held Kilmarnock at home in another stalemate by the same scoreline on Saturday.
  • Despite no alterations in the starting eleven, there were spots for four winter window additions on the substitutes' bench. Former Hearts winger Sam Nicholson had made his Well debut at McDiarmid Park off the bench against St Johnstone.
  • He was joined amongst the subs by full-back pairing Adam Devine (on loan from Rangers) and Jili Buyabu (on loan from Sheffield United), along with striker Jack Vale (who is on loan from Blackburn Rovers).
  • Ross County boss Derek Adams named two changes to the Staggies side that drew 2-2 with Livingston in West Lothian in their midweek match, before they lost 1-0 to St Johnstone in Dingwall on Saturday afternoon.
  • Cameron Borthwick-Jackson started with Loick Ayina and Will Nightingale in the back three. George Harmon came into a five-man midfield, as County shifted to a different formation, replacing Brandon Khela on the left-hand side.
  • Yan Dhanda pushed further forward, ahead of Teddy Jenks and Eli King in the middle of the park. Jordan White took Victor Loturi's spot in the starting eleven, starting alongside Simon Murray in the Staggies' attack.

Prediction

  • A huge basement battle in the Scottish Premiership takes place at Fir Park, as Motherwell host Ross County under the lights in their midweek meeting.
  • The Well have drawn three league games on the spin, winning just one of their last 19 Scottish Premiership matches - a 3-1 win over fellow relegation rivals Livingston at the end of December. Ross County still have a game in hand on the Steelmen, so this match is massive for Motherwell as they could create a six-point gap between them and their midweek opponents with a victory.
  • The Staggies will be hoping to move level on points with the Well should they be victorious, but the consolation would be having that potentially pivotal game in hand. Just like Motherwell, they've only won four Scottish Premiership matches all season but the last of those came in the Highlands against this weekend's opponents - back in December - where they ran out 3-0 winners.
  • The previous league meeting at Fir Park ended in a mental 3-3 draw, but Motherwell will hope to take advantage of Ross County's rotten recent run and potentially sneak past the Staggies here.
