Team News

Celtic
Aberdeen
  • Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers named four changes to the Celts side that won comfortably in the Highlands as they beat Ross County 3-0 in Dingwall, before being embarrassed 6-0 by Atletico Madrid in Tuesday's Champions League meeting.
  • Alastair Johnston replaced Anthony Ralston at right-back for the match in Madrid. Despite scoring against the Staggies, David Turnbull was replaced by Matt O'Riley to play alongside Paulo Bernardo and Callum McGregor in midfield.
  • Luis Palma and Kyogo Furuhashi joined Daizen Maeda - who is out for six weeks through injury - in attack to take on Atletico. Hyun-Jun Yang and Hyun-Gyu Oh started against the Staggies so could force their way into the lineup this weekend.
  • Aberdeen boss Barry Robson named one change to the Dons team that advanced to the Scottish League Cup final where they'll play Rangers, after a 1-0 win against Hibs at Hampden, before a 2-2 draw with PAOK in Greece on Thursday.
  • Stefan Gartenmann, Slobodan Rubezic and Richard Jensen continued in the Dons defence as the back three, with Jack MacKenzie and Nicky Devlin starting at left and right wing-back respectively.
  • Ryan Duncan replaced Leighton Clarkson as part of Aberdeen's four-man midfield. Bojan Miovski was also sat amongst the substitutes in Greece, as Duk lead the line and gave the visitors the lead in Thessaloniki.

Prediction

  • Two of last season's top three in the Scottish Premiership meet in the final match this weekend, as Celtic host Aberdeen at Parkhead.
  • Celtic are on the verge of elimination from the Champions League, but still reign supreme domestically. The Hoops were humiliated in the Spanish capital, after playing very well against the same opponents in Glasgow less than a fortnight prior. The best way to get over the mauling in Madrid is to respond with three points, particularly if Rangers win earlier in the day away to Livingston.
  • As for Aberdeen, they proved they can compete against a good side continentally. However, the Dons are sat in seventh spot - before this weekend's action takes place - and will want to ascend up the Scottish Premiership table. They play away to the league leaders but host the side in second after the international break, but it will be a tough task to leave Celtic Park with something.
  • Celtic have to make amends for their continental catastrophe, up against an Aberdeen side who performed well in Greece but may be suffering from a European hangover themselves.
