Team News

Liverpool
Crystal Palace
  • Diogo Jota has an outside chance of returning from injury for Liverpool's game against Crystal Palace on Sunday but would only make the bench if he does.
  • Jurgen Klopp will more than likely name an unchanged starting XI from the 3-0 win over Burnley on Wednesday.
  • The only possible change is Curtis Jones or James Milner in midfield but Klopp will more than likely opt for Georginio Wijnaldum in what could prove his last game for the club.
  • Christian Benteke is flagged as a doubt against his former club and Roy Hodgson may not risk the striker with nothing at stake on Sunday and the Euros around the corner. Benteke has, however, scored in four straight league matches.
  • Jean-Philippe Mateta or Jordan Ayew are on standby to deputise for Benteke, though Wilfried Zaha could move centrally.
  • Tyrick Mitchell is also doubtful for the Eagles but Hodgson believes it might just be fatigue rather than an injury. Nevertheless, Patrick van Aanholt could take over at Anfield.
  • Luka Milivojevic missed the defeat to Arsenal in midweek through personal reasons but could return here.

Prediction

  • Liverpool moved into the top four in midweek after Leicester lost to Chelsea and they defeated Burnley. The Reds only need to match Leicester's result on the final day to secure a top four finish. They will finish third if they better Chelsea's result.
  • Crystal Palace were beaten 3-1 by Arsenal on Wednesday after conceding twice in second half injury time. This is Roy Hodgson's final game in charge of Crystal Palace before stepping down and it will take place at the home of one of his old clubs Liverpool.
  • Palace lost 7-0 to Liverpool in the reverse meeting and have conceded four goal in each of their last two visits to Anfield. It may not be the farewell for Hodgson he would like, particularly as Liverpool need a result and his players have nothing left to play for.

  • Liverpool fans went from laughing at United fans for celebrating top 4 to celebrate it themselves in a year.

  • @Byakuya - I don't think there's a single team in the top leagues who could expect more than a CL qualification if they have to play half the season without any centre backs. Or you think expectations should not be based on reality?
