Team News

Switzerland
Denmark
  • Xherdan Shaqiri was forced to withdraw from the squad ahead of the win over Georgia through injury and has returned to Liverpool.
  • Fabian Schar is also ruled out for Switzerland after suffering a nasty head injury against Georgia. Nico Elvedi or Timm Klose will deputise at the back.
  • Albian Ajeti could come in for striker Mario Gavranovic but elsewhere the lineup may well remain unchanged.
  • Denmark had to come from behind twice to draw with Kosovo and avoid what would have been a humiliating defeat after some somewhat patronising comments from coach Age Hareide ahead of the game.
  • The coach may have liked to avoid using Christian Eriksen in that game but the Spurs star was needed from the bench and scored from the spot within minutes.
  • His return could be one of a number of changes, with Andreas Christensen, Simon Kjaer and Yussuf Poulsen also likely to come in.

Prediction

  • The top two seeds in Group D go head-to-head here with neither side wanting to slip up so early in the campaign, so this could be a cagey game between two well organised teams.
  • The Swiss took until the second half to get the job done against Georgia in their opener, while Denmark will be looking to start the group well after a disappointing result in Kosovo.
  • In truth both of these sides may be happy with a point hoping that Ireland and Georgia also cancel one another out in the other match in the group.
