Everton sign teenager in £10m deal

Everton have announced they have signed Nikola Vlasic from Croatian giants Hajduk Split on a five-year deal that will run until June 2022.

The 19-year-old impressed against Everton in both legs of their Europa League encounter earlier this month and Ronald Koeman’s side have shelled out in the region of £10m to make Vlasic their ninth signing of the summer.

Koeman has been desperate to sign a new centre forward all summer but now appears to have settled on Vlasic, who will provide competition in attack with their current options.

“I am very excited about the opportunity to play for this big club,” Vlasic told the club’s official website. “The Premier League is the best league in the world and this is one of the top clubs in England. It is such a big honour for me to be here.

“When I heard Everton were interested in me, I knew straight away I wanted to come here. Whenever someone called my manager or my father, I told them we can do great things together.”

Vlasic gained one of the highest WhoScored rating of all Split players during their 2-0 defeat to Everton at Goodison Park earlier this month and now Koeman will hope he can continue that fine form on a regular basis for the Toffees.
