Newcastle have rejected an approach from Bayern Munich for right-back Kieran Trippier, according to Sky Sports.
Bayern are looking to bring in another right-back before the transfer window closes next week and have identified Trippier as a potential addition.
The German side are reported to have lodged a loan offer with an obligation to buy the 33-year-old, who is said to be keen on the move.
However, Newcastle are reluctant to lose their primary creator in the January window and are set to rebuff any efforts from Bayern to sign the England international.
Bayern have also been linked with a move for PSG's Nordi Mukiele but are struggling to come to an agreement with the French side for the versatile defender.
Thomas Tuchel's side have already reinforced their backline this month, signing Eric Dier from Tottenham having missed out on Radu Dragusin, who moved to Spurs from Genoa.
