Team News

Ross County
Dundee United
  • Ross County boss Don Cowie handed three Staggies' summer signings their Scottish Premiership debuts on Saturday, as the Highlanders left Fir Park with a point following a goalless draw with Motherwell last Saturday afternoon.
  • Akil Wright joined Will Nightingale and Ryan Leak in the Staggies' back three. James Brown started at right wing-back with George Harmon chosen on the other side. Club captain Connor Randall and Victor Loturi started in midfield.
  • Also in the middle of the park, Jack Grieves made his league debut for the club after signing on loan from Watford. Jordan White was given the nod in attack against his former club, joined by summer signing Ronan Hale who scored three goals in two Scottish League Cup games.
  • Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin handed league debuts to five summer signings as United were held at home in a dramatic Dundee derby which finished in a 2-2 draw at Tannadice last Sunday.
  • Kevin Holt, Ross Graham and Declan Gallagher were the trio chosen to start for United at the back. Summer signings Will Ferry and Vicko Ševelj were given the nod at left wing-back and right wing-back respectively.
  • Craig Sibbald and David Babunski started as the duo in midfield. Kristijan Trapanovski and Miller Thomson, who both gave United the lead on derby day, supported lone striker Jort van der Sande against Dundee.

Prediction

  • Both Ross County and Dundee United picked up a point on the opening weekend of the Scottish Premiership last time out.
  • A point on their travels isn't the worst way for Ross County's Scottish Premiership campaign to commence, particularly given the Staggies only picked up 9 points from 19 games on the road last season. The majority of their points come up in the Highlands so, hosting the newly promoted team in their first home league match of the season, the hosts should feel confident this weekend.
  • Dundee United's miserable top tier opening day record continued, as they are without a victory on the opening matchday of a Scottish Premiership season since 2014/15 and are now winless in five matches since. However, the Tangerines have now lost just one of their last 17 top-tier meetings with Dundee at Tannadice - drawing eleven - last losing at home to the Dee in August 2004.
  • Dundee United will be disappointed having been held at home on derby day last weekend, so Ross County will hope to capitalise and claim all three points this weekend.
