It has long been doom and gloom surrounding Independiente but their recent form has inspired many to see them as a challenger once more in the long term.
A convincing 3-0 Copa Argentina win over Godoy Cruz has only added to that enthusiasm in no small part down to wonderkid Santiago Lopez who was on the scoresheet against for El Rojo.
Marcelo Gallardo's early impact is already clear for River Plate as they look defensively resilient already - now they need to return to their free-scoring best.
Miguel Borja has impacted things in continental competition for River but domestically he is without a goal since late-July - that needs to change if he is to continue to lead the line.
