- Jamie Leweling and Max Christiansen may return to the squad after COVID, but Jetro Willems is suspended after picking up five yellows.
- Havard Nielsen has suffered a muscle injury, while Marco Meyerhöfer will miss the rest of the season with an ankle injury. Paul Seguin has a calf problem.
- Jeremy Dudziak will be assessed nearer the game because of an Achilles injury. Gideon Jung and Jessic Ngankam are both being eased back from serious knee injuries, but Robin Kehr is still struggling with a long-term knee injury.
- English talent Jamie Bynoe-Gittens may get another start. Goalkeeper Gregor Kobel could return from an ankle injury, while Axel Witsel and Thorgan Hazard are both expected to be fit. Emre Can is available after suspension.
- Gio Reyna is ruled out with a tendon injury, while Mo Dahoud has a shoulder injury, and Mats Hummels is struggling with a thigh problem.
- Donyell Malen suffered a tendon strain and is ruled out. Steffen Tigges has broken his ankle, while Mateu Morey remains on the sidelines with a serious knee injury, and former skipper Marcel Schmelzer continues his comeback from a knee injury.
Dortmund looked poor, but had enough quality to get the victory. Interesting times ahead with thee rebuild for them.
