Bundesliga Best XI: Sancho beaten by Leverkusen ace to player of the month award

 

Here we round up the five highest WhoScored rated players from our Bundesliga team of the month for February.

 

5. Marcel Halstenberg (RB Leipzig) - 7.83 rating

 

Marcel Halstenberg played a direct hand in three goals in four league matches in February to help RB Leipzig go unbeaten last month. The 27-year-old scored and assisted in the same league game for the first time this season (vs Hannover) and completed more crosses (11) than any other player in the division. Moreover, only James Rodriguez (16) registered more key passes than Halstenberg (13) in the Bundesliga last month.

 

4. Nils Petersen (Freiburg) - 7.84 rating

 

Nils Petersen won the WhoScored Man of the Match award two times in four matches in February and played a direct hand in five goals in that time (three goals, two assists). In fact, only one player scored or assisted more goals in the Bundesliga than Petersen last month. The 30-year-old also won 21 aerial duels over those appearances and chipped in with six tackles.

 

3. Julian Brandt (Bayer Leverkusen) - 7.90 rating

 

Julian Brandt has flourished since Bayer Leverkusen changed manager before Christmas, benefiting from a change of position in a new formation. Brandt provided the most assists in the Bundesliga last month (four) and even played a direct hand in four goals in one match in February. The Germany international also won the WhoScored Man of the Match award in their shock win over Bayern Munich.

2. Jadon Sancho (Borussia Dortmund) - 7.97 rating

 

Jadon Sancho stepped up when it mattered most for Borussia Dortmund last month, winning the WhoScored Man of the Match award in games against Hoffenheim and Bayer Leverkusen. Sancho played a direct hand in three goals in four league appearances in February and also completed the most dribbles in the division (19).

 

1. Kevin Volland (Bayer Leverkusen) - 8.00 rating

 

Bayer Leverkusen striker Kevin Volland is the WhoScored Player of the Month for February in the Bundesliga. The 26-year-old narrowly beats Sancho to the award after playing a direct hand in a goal in all four of his league appearances. Volland scored or assisted five goals in that time to help Leverkusen’s push for a top four finish in the Bundesliga.
