Ronaldo loses top spot while Leicester trio leap up player form rankings

Having sat out of the game against Lecce at the weekend - a costly decision from Maurizio Sarri as Juventus could only manage a draw - Cristiano Ronaldo has relinquished top spot in this week's form rankings to a fellow Serie A star.

Indeed, Atalanta's Alejandro Gomez claims top spot this time around, despite not scoring in his side's 7-1 rout over Udinese. The Argentine did, however, register two assists having found the net himself in each of his previous three league outings. The 31-year old has, as a result, had a direct hand in seven goals in his last six Serie A appearances, earn a weighted form rating* of 8.17.

Elsewhere Kevin De Bruyne (8.02) has leapt up to third - behind last week's leader Ronaldo - having displaced weekend opponent Jack Grealish as the Premier League's most in-form star. The Belgian registered his ninth assist of the season from as many league appearances in the 3-0 win over Villa, and he has two goals and five assists in the six league outings considered in these form rankings.

Lazio's Ciro Immobile (7.91) has also risen up the rankings having scored for a fourth league match running and is one of four Serie A representatives in the top ten this week, along with new qualifier Josip Ilicic (7.85).

Meanwhile there are three players from Leicester that have rocketed into the top ten following their 9-0 rout over Southampton, with hat-trick hero Jamie Vardy (7.87) now fifth, Ricardo Pereira (7.86) seventh and Wiflred Ndidi (7.82) tenth.

Angel Di Maria (7.87) is the sole Ligue 1 representative in the overall top ten following two assists in PSG's 4-0 Classique victory over Marseille, while another former Premier League playmaker is top of the rankings from Spain.

Ex-Arsenal favourite Santi Cazorla (7.83) places ninth overall following an assist against Alaves last time out and has now had a direct hand in at least one goal in four of his last six league matches.

There are no qualifiers on the leaderbaord from the Bundesliga, however, as Robert Lewandowski drops out of the top ten despite maintaining his remarkable record of scoring in every league appearance so far. The pole retains top spot in Germany, though that is coming under threat from Gladbach summer signing Marcus Thuram, who scored and assisted in victory over Frankfurt to restore the Foals to the top of the table.

Qualifying Rules

Only ratings from each player’s last six league matches are considered, weighted chronologically, with the most recent match carrying greater importance and so on. To qualify each player must have featured in two of the last three league matches and started at least six of the last eight available.
